Sioux Falls Jefferson 3, Sioux Falls Lincoln 0

SIOUX FALLS — Tya Devericks’ complete-game shutout powered Sioux Falls Jefferson past Sioux Falls Lincoln in the Class AA state quarterfinals on Thursday. The Cavaliers will face Roosevelt at 2 p.m. on Friday.

Devericks allowed just two hits in a seven-inning shutout, striking out seven batters to earn the win on the mound. Devericks also batted 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in the win while Bella Sorum added an RBI-single as well.

For Lincoln, Brooklyn Brown took the loss in six innings of work, allowing three runs on six hits and four walks, striking out three.

Sara Mathison had both Patriot hits in the loss.


Harrisburg 6, O’Gorman 5

SIOUX FALLS — Harrisburg held off a late O’Gorman comeback to win during Thursday’s Class AA state quarterfinals. The Tigers will face Sioux Falls Washington at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Kylie Visker earned the win on the mound in 4.1 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks, striking out one.

Peyton LaFramboise totaled two hits, a double, and two RBIs, Stella Disbrow and Elyse Gross each had two hits and an RBI, Alexis Fey and Anna Simunek both tallied an RBI on one hit while Mya Gibson and Leia Knutson each had two hits in the win.

For O’Gorman, London Backes took the loss in six innings of work, allowing six runs on 13 hits and four walks, striking out one.

Lucy Kappel and Atley Herold-Stephens each had three hits and an RBI, including two doubles by Herold-Stephens, Maddie Jones added a two-RBI-double while Zoey McEneaney drove in a run in the loss.


Sioux Falls Roosevelt 5, Brandon Valley 1

SIOUX FALLS — Desiree Hinsch tossed 15 strikeouts as Sioux Falls Roosevelt topped Brandon Valley in the Class AA state quarterfinals on Thursday. The Rough Riders will face Sioux Falls Lincoln at 2 p.m. on Friday.

Hinsch totaled 15 strikeouts in seven innings of work to take the win on the mound, allowing one run on five hits and two walks. Hinsch also had three hits in the win as well.

Meile Mellegaard added two RBIs on two hits, Paige Schmidt tallied two RBIs on one hit, Aliyah Chagolla had two hits and an RBI while Avery Willis had two hits in the win.

For BV, Jacey Meyers tossed 5.1 innings in the loss, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk, striking out three.

Kennedy Fitts had two hits and an RBI in the loss for the Lynx.
