Vermillion 7, Tri-County 0

GAYVILLE — Vermillion blanked Tri-County behind nine strikeouts from Mason Freeling in Legion baseball action on Tuesday.

Freeling allowed just six hits and a walk in 6.2 shutout innings, striking out nine in the win.

Connor Peterson blasted a three-run homer for Post 1, Jack Moskowitz added two RBIs on two hits and a walk while Cooper Reiser added a two-run homer as well.

For TC, Kyson Mansfield took the loss in three innings of work, allowing two runs on four hits and six walks, striking out four.

Jeremiah Gustad had two hits in the loss for the Sundogs.


Colton 11, Dell Rapids 4

DELL RAPIDS — Colton pulled away from Dell Rapids for a Legion baseball win on Tuesday.

Denton Bicknase took the win on the mound for Colton, allowing three runs on eight hits and four walks in five innings, striking out seven.

Braxton Allen had a three-RBI-double, Bicknase added a two-RBI single, Treyson Richter tallied two hits and an RBI while Cole Hendrickson and Parker Hemme each drove in a run on one hit in the win.

For DR, Connor Hanson took the loss in three innings pitched, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks, striking out five.

Gauge Bunkers tallied two hits and an RBI, Knox Cuny added an RBI on a hit and two walks, while AJ Brandenburg collected three hits and a walk in the loss.


Tabor 11, Alexandria 1 (5 innings)

TABOR — A seven-run fifth inning propelled Tabor to a mercy rule win over Alexandria in Legion action on Tuesday.

Madden Merkwan, Alex Adler and Calvin Caba each had two RBIs, Major Aarstad and Cooper Mudder both tallied two hits and an RBI, Carter Smith had an RBI on one hit while Ethan Wagner collected an RBI on three walks.

Isaiah Crownover took the win on the mound in five innings of work, allowing one run on five hits, striking out five.

For Alexandria, Carter Endorf allowed 10 runs on nine hits and three walks in 2.2 innings, striking out four.

Keagan Hill had an RBI-double in the loss.


Wagner 5, Salem 0

SALEM — Frank Soukup struck out 16 batters in Legion baseball action on Tuesday. 

Soukup scattered three hits and issued two walks in 6.2 innings. Javian Pesicka and Malaki Segura had two hits apiece, while Dominic Doom drove in two runs. Cael Cooper added a hit. 

For Salem, Trystan Traupel, Zane McCormick, Hayes Erickson, Korbin Shumaker, Dawson Dorr and Ben Wiebersick had hits. Clayten Hoffman took the loss, allowing two hits, two earned runs, six walks and struck out seven batters in four innings. 


Scotland/Menno/Freeman/Canistota 6, Parkston 2

SCOTLAND — Tannen Auch and Riley Keppen struck out 17 batters as Scotland/Menno/Freeman/Canistota held off Parkston in Legion baseball action on Tuesday.

Auch struck out nine batters in four innings of work, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk, while Keppen added eight strikeouts in three shutout innings, walking two batters.

Tayden Kerrigan had two hits and an RBI, Easton Miller added two RBIs on one hit, Easton Tschetter and Kory Keppen both had two hits while Riley Tschetter, Izayah Ulmer and Oliver Waltner all drove in a run on one hit in the win.

For Parkston, Grady Bowar allowed four runs on six hits and two walks in 3.2 innings, striking out three.

Burke Nuebel had an RBI-double while Gage Jodozi and Kolter Kramer each had a hit in the loss.


Clark/Willow Lake 7, Lidgerwood/Hankinson (N.D.) 3

CLARK — Clark/Willow Lake took down Lidgerwood/Hankinson, North Dakota, in Legion baseball action on Tuesday.

Watson Grantham led the Dinosaurs allowing three runs on six hits in four innings pitched, striking out seven in the win.

Cooper Pommer had two hits, a walk, and an RBI while Grantham and Caleb Drenth each had an RBI on one hit in the win.


Luverne (Minn.) 3, Madison 2

LUVERNE — Madison fell to Luverne, Minnesota, in walk-off fashion on Tuesday.

JD Prorok tossed 4.2 innings for Madison, allowing one run on three hits and a walk, striking out nine.

Tyler Olson drove in a run on a double while Tregg McGillivray and Quinn Flemming each had a double in the loss.


Palace City 2, Helena (Mont.) 1

MITCHELL — Tyler Christensen struck out eight batters as Palace City edged Helena (Mont.) in Legion baseball action on Tuesday. 

Christensen struck out eight batters, allowed three hits, zero earned runs and walked two batters in seven innings. 

Jaxson Hartman smacked a solo home run, while Carter McCormick and Jacob Ebert added hits.


Brookings 8, Renner 1

RENNER — Brookings topped Renner for a Legion baseball win on Tuesday.

Noah Lease took the win on the mound in five innings pitched, allowing one run on three hits and five walks, striking out seven.

Talon Hyde had three hits and an RBI, Cooper Schneider collected two hits, Jude Meendering had two doubles, a walk and two RBIs, Tane Friedrich had an RBI on a walk while Jase Bauer added an RBI on one hit in the win.

For Renner, Dylan Kriech took the loss in three innings of work, allowing five runs on four hits and five walks, striking out two.

Alex McKinney had an RBI on two hits and a walk in the loss.


Renner 3, Brookings 2

RENNER — Dylan Kriech’s walk-off single propelled Renner to a Legion baseball win on Tuesday. 

Landon Nohrenberg finished with two hits and an RBI. Sam Donohoe smacked a solo home run, while Owen Lechtenberg and Alex McKinney added hits. Parker Scheidt earned the win, striking out three batters in 1.1 scoreless relief innings. 

For Brookings, Cooper Schneider, Jay Harris, Talon Hyde, Ben Schulte and Jude Meendering each had hits. Nolan Krogman took the loss, allowing six hits, three earned runs, zero walks and struck out 10 batters in 6.2 innings. 


Yankton 14, Sioux Falls East 0 (5 innings) 

YANKTON — Yankton’s 11 run fourth inning powered it to a Legion baseball win on Tuesday.

Tate Beste finished with two hits and drove in four runs, while Carter Boomsma added two hits and three RBIs. Gavin Johnson and Jackson Kudera had two RBIs apiece. Beck Ryken struck out six batters, allowed one hit, zero runs and walked one batter in five innings. 

For Sioux Falls East, Colin Lunders had the lone hit. Cooper Wasmund took the loss, allowing eight hits, 11 earned runs, two walks and struck out three batters in 3.1 innings. 


Sioux Falls West 9, Yankton 5

YANKTON — An eight-run inning powered Sioux Falls West to a Legion baseball win over Yankton on Tuesday.

Brody Jacobson had two RBIs on one hit, Lawsen Hensley added two hits and an RBI while Boston Bryant and Chris Logue each had an RBI on one hit.

Caden Voss took the win on the mound in four innings pitched, allowing two runs on five hits and five walks, striking out five.

For Yankton, Chase Cooley took the loss in four innings pitched, allowing five runs on four hits and two walks, striking out two.

Samuel Gokie had three hits for Yankton, Easton Feser drove in a run on three hits while Jackson Kudera and Beck Ryken each drove in a run on a walk in the loss.
